Getty Images Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants clarity on his future in Green Bay. The Packers could give him that clarity with a contract extension that guarantees him more money for more future seasons. It’s unclear whether they’re willing to give him that. Mike Silver reported on NFL Network that the Packers are working on restructuring Rodgers’ contract to free up cap space, but that it was unclear whether they would do so in such a way that can make Rodgers confident the Packers are committed to him beyond the 2021 season. Silver suggested that the Packers might want to keep open the possibility that they’d move on to Jordan Love in 2022 and not commit anything more to Rodgers beyond 2021 than they already have. Coming off the Raptors’ 2019 NBA championship, Kyle Lowry reportedly threatened to hold out and demand a trade if Toronto didn’t give him a contract extension. Lowry – who got the extension – clearly has limited willingness to place sentimentality ahead of financial security. That extension will end this summer, and Lowry and the Raptors must again decide on his future. That process is reaching an inflection point with Thursday’s trade deadline. The Heat and 76ers are interested in Lowry . Toronto clearly has interest in keeping him . But Lowry’s expiring contract creates a complication – unless he assures a team he’d re-sign, which means understanding how much they’d offer. Dennis Schroder has been up and down for the Lakers this year — but he’s been valuable to them. There are times when he has looked like the playoff Rondo the Lakers were hoping to get when adding him last offseason. There are other times when the shots aren’t falling and he has looked out of place on offense. His on-ball defense has been solid, and he’s averaging 15 points a game, but is shooting just 31.8% from three, and his 54.2 true shooting percentage is below league average. That said, the Laker offense is 6.5 per 100 possessions better when he is on the court this season. Dennis Schroder and the Lakers are reportedly far apart on a contract extension . Schroder is eligible for a four-year extension with up to $83,328,000 in base salary. Because the bonus terms are in his current contract , an extension must contain incentives for: Playing 65 regular-season games, playing 50% of playoff games and reaching NBA Finals ($230,000-$270,000 annually, as negotiated) Playing 65 regular-season games, playing 50% of playoff games and winning championship ($230,000-$270,000 annually, as negotiated) An extension would also include incentives for making an All-Star team and an All-Defensive team, but those are far less relevant. We finally have an answer in another contract saga between the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott . The Cowboys announced Monday evening that they agreed to terms on a new deal with Prescott. "The Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms on a new contract with quarterback Dak Prescott on Monday," the Cowboys said in a statement. "Further information and details will be released at a formal press announcement on Wednesday." According to a report by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the contract is four years and $160 million with $126 millions guaranteed. The first three years average an annual salary of $42 million. This move by the Cowboys has been a hot topic for quite some time, dating back to as far as last summer. In July of 2020, after months of negotiations, Dallas placed the franchise tag on Prescott for the 2020 season .
