The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the India cricket squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies, starting July 22 at Port of Spain in Trinidad. While Shikhar Dhawan has been named captain, several big names including star batter Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested. Ravindra Jadeja , meanwhile, has been named as vice-captain for the series. Following the squad announcement, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan seemed unhappy with the management's decision to rest players. He posted a cryptic tweet, which read: "No one comes back to form while resting". England vs India, Edgbaston Test: India Thought They Would Appear And Things Would Just Happen
As the Edgbaston Test came to an end, giving England a fine win that gave them a 2-2 verdict in the five-Test series, one was left wondering what the result would have been, had India played the final Test of the series last year along with the rest, when they had the momentum. But other things take precedence in Indian cricket, one assumes. Nevertheless, even when the side went into the Edgbaston Test, there seemed to be a little bit of an assumption that all they needed to do was to appear, and things would just happen. Couldn’t have been more wrong, as the Indian team brutally got to know. India lost the Test, or began the process of losing, on Day 3 afternoon, when, in spite of a definite edge in proceedings, the batters just could not translate that into anything close to a challenge. It can’t be that the Indian think tank was not aware of the English batters’ ability to run down scores they made it clear time and again against New Zealand so the need to score really … [Read more...] about England vs India, Edgbaston Test: India Thought They Would Appear And Things Would Just Happen
‘Bazball’ scales new heights as fearsome England make history with record run chase against India
Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player Highlights from day five of the fifth Test at Edgbaston as England clinched an astonishing seven-wicket win over India Highlights from day five of the fifth Test at Edgbaston as England clinched an astonishing seven-wicket win over India This was supposed to be the chase that proved too tough. Knocking off 277, 299 and 296 in successive matches against New Zealand was one thing but an England-record 378? Against India? Against Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja? Surely logic would trump 'Bazball' this time? "Even the most cynical of curmudgeons will feel evangelical about 'Bazball' if England pull this off," said Sky Sports Cricket's Mark Butcher at lunch on day four at Edgbaston with India already 361 runs to this good. "This bowling attack is a level above the New Zealand one England decimated." England ratings: Full marks for relentless run-scorer Jonny … [Read more...] about ‘Bazball’ scales new heights as fearsome England make history with record run chase against India
“Like Keeping Your Ferrari Parked In Garage”: Ex-India Selector On Edgbaston Test Playing XI | Cricket News
From being in an advantageous position in the fifth rescheduled Test against England in Edgbaston, the Indian cricket team could not hold their nerve and lost the game by seven wickets. England rode on unbeaten centuries from Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow to register their highest successful chase in Tests of 378 runs. After the loss, experts have opined that the team composition could have been different. Former Indian cricket team player and ex-national selector Jatin Paranjape said that Ravichandran Ashwin could have been picked in the XI. "I don't think so. You can understand why they picked Bumrah as captain; the powers that be must have thought that Bumrah as a captain is a good choice. Sometimes it is better to err on the side of caution, and that in itself turns out to be a better decision," Jatin Paranjape said in an interview to senior sports journalist Jamie Alter . "I can understand why they played Shardul, because he had done well in the Test match at The … [Read more...] about “Like Keeping Your Ferrari Parked In Garage”: Ex-India Selector On Edgbaston Test Playing XI | Cricket News
Biggest 2022 NFL training camp battles involving rookies: Chris Carson, Zach Ertz among vets to be pushed
imagn's Patrick Breen NFL teams often target positions in the draft to replace veterans as a cost-cutting measure. Those plans can take a few years to materialize and that leads to a healthy competition in training camp. Eagles drafted two young players (center Cam Jurgens and defensive tackle Jordan Davis ) who are talented enough to earn longer looks, but the two veterans ahead of them -- Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox , respectively -- have so many skins on the wall that it is difficult to envision Philadelphia not starting them. It is more likely that Cox starts and splits snaps with Davis. Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III vs. Seattle's running backs Rashaad Penny has played in 10 games or less each of the past three seasons. When available, he did not look like the player who enticed the team to use a first-round selection on his talents. Chris Carson has missed 17 games over the past two seasons. Both are entering the final year on their contract. The … [Read more...] about Biggest 2022 NFL training camp battles involving rookies: Chris Carson, Zach Ertz among vets to be pushed
