With the announcement of India's Asia Cup T20I squad, there is enough indication about the players who will be closely watched going into the T20 World Cup. With fast bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah missing the Asia Cup due to injury, the Indian pace bowling will be manned by Bhuvneshwar Kumar , Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan . Former Indian cricket team player Sanjay Manjrekar has now given his opinion on the two young pacers, who come with different skillsets. "There is actually a nice race going on for that flight to Australia to get that seat in business class. You know these guys travel business class. We used to be in economy, so I say that very sort of grudgingly," Sanjay Manjrekar said on Sports 18. "So, a race is going on to get those seats on business … [Read more...] about Sanjay Manjrekar Explains Why “Avesh Is Slightly Behind” Arshdeep In T20 WC Race | Cricket News

August 10, 2022 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

India announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup tournament, to be played in the UAE from August 27, and the fast bowling department has a few young faces in the absence of premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah . Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh have both been included in the squad. Speaking on SPORTS18's daily sports news show ‘Sports Over The Top', former India wicket-keeper batter and selector Saba Karim backed Avesh Khan's inclusion in the Asia Cup squad. “I feel once you have invested in youngsters like Avesh Khan, you possibly can't leave them out to be barbecued and such youngsters haven't done anything wrong. I can understand Mohammed Shami on current form is a strong bet more so with Jasprit Bumrah out due to injury but it just feels that the selectors want to have that kind of security and they want to persist with the youngsters whom they have shown so much of faith.” India will take on Pakistan in a blockbuster clash on August 28th and the two teams are also … [Read more...] about “Can’t Leave Them Out To Be Barbecued”: Saba Karim On Young India Pacer’s Asia Cup Selection | Cricket News

Dubai: Star India batter Virat Kohli is a quality player and has all the tools needed to come out of his prolonged dip in form, said former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene. Kohli and a fit-again KL Rahul on Monday returned to a 15-member Indian squad for the Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Dubai and Sharjah from August 27 to September 11. His last assignment was the England tour where he could manage just 76 runs from six innings across formats, which included the rescheduled fifth Test, two ODIs and as many T20s in July. The former skipper was rested for limited over West Indies tour and the upcoming ODIs against Zimbabwe. "It is unfortunate what Virat is going through right now at the moment, but he is a quality player," said Jayawardene in the latest episode of The ICC Review show.
