On the face of it, this move makes perfect sense for everyone concerned. Especially Liverpool, who get a bargain. Multiple reports state that the Premier League leaders are in advanced talks to sign Japanese winger Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg. [ MORE: Premier League schedule ] Minamino, 24, has a release clause of just $9.5 million and it has been reported that he will move to Liverpool in January with talks going well over a five-year contract. RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed talks are ongoing about the transfer, with Bayern Munich and Marseille also said to be interested in signing the tricky winger. “I can confirm that there are talks with Liverpool at the moment. It is an honor [for us] to see the caliber of clubs who are interested in our players.” Minamino’s goals, pace and trickery pushed Salzburg to within one game of reaching the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds and he impressed against Liverpool in both games in the UCL … [Read more...] about Liverpool in talks to activate Minamino’s release clause

There will be no World Cup of Hockey during 2021 season
The NHL had been hopeful that the World Cup of Hockey could make its return in February of 2021, but commissioner Gary Bettman said on Monday that will not be happening as there is simply not enough time to schedule it that quickly. The league will hold an All-Star game instead, while the next hope for the World Cup of Hockey seems to be during the 2024 and/or 2028 seasons. Back in August deputy commissioner Bill Daly said the league was cautiously optimistic that World Cup tournament could be held in February in 2021 if the NHL and NHLPA could agree to keep the collective bargaining agreement in place until September 2022. That happened after a potential 2020 tournament was also pushed back. That agreement between the NHL and NHLPA to keep the current CBA happened, but the timeframe to organize a tournament is simply not there at this point. The NHL brought back the World Cup tournament back in 2016 with Canada winning it. It was the first time the tournament had been held since 2004. … [Read more...] about There will be no World Cup of Hockey during 2021 season
How Jeremy Pruitt voted in final Coaches Poll
Having played several of the SEC's best this season, Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt had a first-hand look at what it takes to be elite. With that, there was a couple noticeable surprises in his power rankings following this week's public release of every coach's final Coaches Poll ballot following conference championship weekend, via USA Today. Pruitt is one of the only coaches that ranked unbeaten Clemson, the defending national champions, No. 1 ahead of LSU and Ohio State. Pruitt included five SEC teams in his final poll, led by league champion LSU at No. 2 and Georgia at No. 5. Two teams the Vols lost to this season, Alabama and Florida, were ranked Nos. 9 and 10, respectively. Three-loss Auburn rounded out Pruitt's SEC picks at No. 12. Like LSU coach Ed Orgeron's final ballot, Pruitt doesn't appear to be a big believer in 10-win Big Ten teams Minnesota and Penn State. He too ranked the Golden Gophers and Nittany Lions in the No. 14 and 15 spots. And then there's Michigan, who the … [Read more...] about How Jeremy Pruitt voted in final Coaches Poll
How Ed Orgeron voted in final Coaches Poll
Ed Orgeron doesn't show love to the Big Ten. That'll be the narrative that surfaces following this week's public release of every coach's final Coaches Poll ballot following conference championship weekend, via USA Today. Orgeron ranked four SEC teams in the Top 8, headlined by his Tigers at No. 1, followed by Georgia and LSU — two teams LSU beat — at Nos. 6 and 7, respectively. Ohio State is No. 2 on Orgeron's ballot, following by Clemson, Oklahoma and Georgia. Florida, who is heading to the Orange Bowl, is No. 6 — higher than most ballots. Two-loss Alabama, an elite the Playoff selection committee dropped eight spots after the Crimson Tide's Iron Bowl loss to Auburn, is No. 8 on Orgeron's ballot. The Tigers' ended a seven-year skid to Alabama this season in Tuscaloosa, 46-41, behind a Heisman-caliber performance from quarterback Joe Burrow. Of the five SEC teams inside Orgeron's Top 25, Auburn (9-3) is ranked lowest at No. 12. Most surprising is Penn State, whom … [Read more...] about How Ed Orgeron voted in final Coaches Poll
Race for No. 1 pick in 2020 NFL Draft: How Eli Manning can shake up the draft
Manning will play a small role in who could end up with the first overall pick by Bryan DeArdo @BryanDeArdo Dec 12, 2019 at 7:17 am ET • 5 min read The last thing on Eli Manning's mind is how his performance Sunday against the Dolphins could alter the 2020 NFL Draft. Manning, who started his first game in nearly three months in Monday night's overtime loss to the Eagles, is slated to receive another start this Sunday with rookie quarterback Daniel Jones still dealing with an ankle injury. Manning enjoyed a fast start in Monday's loss to the Eagles, throwing a pair of first half touchdown passes while helping the Giants build a 17-3 lead. New York was unable to add to their lead in the second half, however, as the Eagles scored the game's final 23 points to pull off the come-from-behind victory. With the loss, New York (2-11) remained ahead of the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins for the No. 2 overall pick if the NFL Draft was … [Read more...] about Race for No. 1 pick in 2020 NFL Draft: How Eli Manning can shake up the draft
