The Hurricanes have taken defensemen in the first round in three of the last five drafts (Haydn Fleury, Noah Hanifin and Jake Bean) and have amassed plenty of depth at that position in recent years. Speaking with Lauren K. Ohnesorge of the Triangle Business Journal (subscription required), team owner Thomas Dundon indicated that the team will not be drafting blueliners with their top picks as long as he’s in charge:“We won’t be drafting defense in the first round as long as I’m here. It will be interesting to see if the Hurricanes instead look to stockpile some extra … [Read more...] about Hurricanes owner: ‘We won’t be drafting defense in the first round as long as I’m here’
Cleveland is 7-22 in its first season since LeBron James fled for Los Angeles by Cody Benjamin 1m ago • 2 min read The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the five worst teams in the NBA, they have the worst Eastern Conference record in basketball, and they might not reach double-digit wins until after Christmas. But they do have one of the best front offices they've ever had, according to owner Dan Gilbert.Speaking on a Friday conference call to media and Wine & Gold United members, Gilbert acknowledged there are frustrations with the Cavs' 2018-19 season, which is the start of the second post-LeBron James era in a half-decade. "At least in the 12 or 13 years I've been in Cleveland. You have … [Read more...] about Cavaliers owner not worried about team’s future, says front office is in the ‘best shape’ ever
