Tottenham proved they can cope without Harry Kane and retook third place. © AFP Manchester United needed two Paul Pogba penalties to stay in contention for a top-four Premier League finish by beating West Ham 2-1, while Tottenham moved up to third thanks to Lucas Moura's hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday. United had lost four of their previous five games in all competitions and were extremely fortunate to get back to winning ways as West Ham had a goal ruled out for offside, hit the crossbar and saw David de Gea make a wonder save to deny Michail Antonio giving them a late lead. However, a much-needed win moved Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men up to fifth, at the expense of Arsenal, and to within two points of Chelsea in fourth.United were gifted a first-half lead when Robert Snodgrass's clumsy challenge brought down Juan Mata and Pogba sent his first spot-kick down the middle of the goal.West Ham were deservedly level four minutes into the second half when Felipe … [Read more...] about Paul Pogba Penalties Save Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur Move Up To Third

Premier League: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Eyes Strong Finish As Everton Lie In Wait
Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's permanent appointment, Manchester United have won two of five games. © AFP Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has five games left in the Premier League season to prove conclusively that the club's hierarchy did not act too hastily in making him Jose Mourinho's permanent successor last month. After a spectacular start as caretaker manager of the club, in which he won his first eight games and lost just one of his opening 17 matches in charge, United have since suffered a precipitous drop in form. Five defeats have come in Manchester United's last seven games, a run which has seen them exit the FA Cup and Champions League and left a top-four finish in serious doubt.Since former United striker Solskjaer was appointed to the position on a permanent basis in late March, the Reds have won two of five games, unconvincing 2-1 home victories against Watford and West Ham, and now face a potentially pivotal week in the league campaign."When we came in, on the 19th of … [Read more...] about Premier League: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Eyes Strong Finish As Everton Lie In Wait

Man Utd fans slammed Harry Maguire for his performance in the 1-1 draw vs Everton. © AFP Man Utd nearly fell to their fifth loss of the Premier League season but were rescued by teenager Mason Greenwood who came off the bench to score the equaliser against Everton 13 minutes from full-time. Loris Karius Champions League Howlers Due To Concussion: Jurgen Klopp
Loris Karius had been distraught after the 1-3 defeat to Real Madrid in Champions League final. © AFP Loris Karius looks set to remain Liverpool's first choice goalkeeper after club manager Jurgen Klopp said his errors in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid were because he was concussed. Karius, who was diagnosed as suffering from concussion by two American doctors days after the final as a result of an elbow from Real hardman Sergio Ramos, is likely to start in goal for the Premier League side in a pre-season friendly with Chester City on Saturday. Klopp's comments come after earlier efforts reportedly to buy Brazilian number one Allisson from Serie A outfit AS Roma came to nothing. The Italians, irked they had sold Egyptian star Mohamed Salah to Liverpool too cheaply last year, upped the price to beyond what the English club were willing to pay.Klopp, though, told Liverpoolfc.com nothing had changed for him with regard to his fellow German Karius's status from … [Read more...] about Loris Karius Champions League Howlers Due To Concussion: Jurgen Klopp
