Anthony Gordon: Newcastle hold talks with Everton as winger fails to turn up to training for third consecutive day

Anthony Gordon, who is a January transfer target for Newcastle, has failed to turn up to Everton training for a third day in a row. The forward missed training on Tuesday with a planned absence - as did Amadou Onana. But while Onana returned to training on Wednesday, Gordon was not present and did not appear at the club's Finch Farm training ground on Thursday either. Sky Sports News understands Gordon has not put in an official transfer request. Gordon is the subject of a potential £40m move with Newcastle believed to be the frontrunners to sign him. The Champions League contenders have held talks over a move as they look to replace Chris Wood, who joined Nottingham Forest last week. Why is Anthony Gordon in demand? Drs. Trammell, Olvey discuss Power diagnosis, concussion protocol – MotorSportsTalk | NBC Sports

March 16, 2016 by motorsports.nbcsports.com Leave a Comment

It’s not very often you get two of the smartest doctoral minds on one conference call, but that was the case today with Dr. Terry Trammell, IndyCar Safety consultant, and Dr. Stephen Olvey, retired former director of the Neurocritical Care Unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, both on a call along with Will Power and Penske Racing president Tim Cindric. Power was cleared to drive earlier Wednesday after he did not actually have a concussion, as he was initially diagnosed . Comments from both Trammell and Olvey – which are full of lucidity and insight – are below: — Q: Dr. Trammell, can you briefly talk us through the weekend in St. Petersburg and specifically how Will’s inner ear infection could have led to the concussion-like symptoms and failing the test at St. Pete? Dr. Terry Trammell: Okay. He had, as you know, an impact with a turn on the wall on the driver’s right. It compressed the right side of the car pretty low, but at relatively low G’s for that style … [Read more...] about Drs. Why Artur Beterbiev could achieve much more than just undisputed champion status in 2023

January 26, 2023 by www.cbssports.com Leave a Comment

Queensberry Promotions As far as skilled boxers who possess an equal level of danger and knockout threat, there are very few on the planet as well-rounded and dynamic as Artur Beterbiev. Conversely, it would be difficult to find a champion this accomplished who flies so far under the radar in terms of crossover appeal. That reality is expected to change for Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KOs), the unified light heavyweight champion, should he finish 2023 by conquering the type of challenges that could be in front of him -- namely unbeaten WBA champion Dmitry Bivol -- in an attempt to become not just the undisputed champion at 175 pounds but recognition as, quite possibly, the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. Beterbiev, who returns Saturday at London's Wembley Arena to defend his trio of titles against mandatory challenger Anthony Yarde (23-2, 22 KOs), is the only world champion in boxing with a 100% knockout rate. The native of Russia, who fights out of his adopted home of … [Read more...] about Why Artur Beterbiev could achieve much more than just undisputed champion status in 2023

2023 NBA All-Star: Joel Embiid biggest starter snub; Anthony Davis had a strong case over Zion Williamson

January 27, 2023 by www.cbssports.com Leave a Comment

USATSI The 2023 NBA All-Star starters were announced Thursday night, and naturally, a couple players who are looking at bench roles have a legitimate beef. First, here are the starters, which were selected using a weighted system in which the fan vote accounted for 50 percent, and the media and player votes 25 percent each. Western Conference: LeBron James (captain), Stephen Curry , Luka Doncic , Zion Williamson , Nikola Jokic Eastern Conference: Giannis Antetokounmpo (captain), Donovan Mitchell , Kyrie Irving , Jayson Tatum , Kevin Durant Now, let's get to the starter snubs, starting with the most obvious. Joel Embiid It's not an honest snub unless you can say who should be replaced, and in this case, Embiid deserved to start over Anteokounmpo. The media and players agreed, voting Embiid third among frontcourt players behind Tatum and Durant, but Embiid wound up fourth in the fan vote, where Giannis was first. That was the difference. I get … [Read more...] about 2023 NBA All-Star: Joel Embiid biggest starter snub; Anthony Davis had a strong case over Zion Williamson
