ChrisKY91: How much does a school’s brand (athletic outfitters - Nike, Adidas, Under Armour) factor into recruitment, program building and overall success? Since the CFP started only one non Nike school - Notre Dame/Under Armour has made the cut. It’s been nearly a decade since a non Nike school won a National Title - 2011 Auburn Under Armour. Did Michigan and Tennessee see a boost from switching from Adidas to Nike and conversely did Miami and Washington take a hit going to Adidas from Nike? Nike does sponsor a large majority of top programs in college athletics- so maybe it’s a chicken/egg scenario. Why does it seem these other brands (specifically Adidas) not seem as interested in merchandising gear for their schools? IMO getting a stronger foothold in college athletics would boost and strengthen these brands in this country.
