"Opening the batting is something that I have done all my life and that is something I feel most comfortable doing. It gives me the chance to play full 20 overs and I make the best impact when I play full 20 overs," Rahul said in a video released by the Indian Premier League on their website. Greg Olsen is done with football, at least on the field. Prior to his retirement Olsen suited up for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 but thought he’d end up in a familiar place. As he revealed on Pardon My Take, Olsen thought he would return to the Chicago Bears for one season, the team that drafted him in 2007. However, Olsen had a pretty interesting story on how those talks eventually broke down and he ended up with the Seahawks. Plus, the Bears ended up signing veteran Jimmy Graham . “I talked to Matt Nagy — he called me with the GM [Ryan Pace] and we talked for like 45 minutes on the phone,” Olsen said, via USA Today. “They’re asking me questions about routes and ‘what kind of systems you played in, would you be comfortable with code words versus digits, what did you do on your backside routes, what was your leverage reads?’ All that stuff. “So I hang up and I say to my wife, ‘babe, I think they really like me and want to sign me! © Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports Training camp is on the horizon, but no one's quite sure whether Aaron Rodgers will show up for the Packers . The reigning MVP skipped all of Green Bay's mandatory minicamp and, at least as of now, has no intention of playing for the green and gold again. Rodgers' No. 1 receiver, Davante Adams , has spoken several times about his quarterback's apparent feud with team brass, once suggesting his own Packers future would be affected by Rodgers' status . Now, in an interview with Fox News , Adams insists Rodgers' absence isn't hurting Green Bay's locker room, even though "everybody is praying that he does come back." Adams, who had a brief absence from minicamp before reporting to work, tells Paulina Dedaj that he skipped camp's first session solely to give new or younger players more reps. But he says he'll be a full participant at training camp, with or without Rodgers. "I'll be there and I'll be ready to rock," he said. "Hopefully, . . .
LeBron James' Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers have voted to abandon the NBA season in protest at the latest US police shooting of a black man, multiple reports said Wednesday. ESPN, The Athletic and Yahoo Sports all reported that the Lakers and Clippers called for the 2019/2020 season to be scrapped in the wake of Jacob Blake's shooting in Wisconsin on Sunday. The Lakers and Clippers vote to end the season came at an emergency meeting of all the teams left in the NBA's playoffs, which are taking place in Orlando, Florida. The meeting followed the Milwaukee Bucks' boycott of their first round playoff game against the Orlando Magic earlier Wednesday. That decision prompted the NBA to call off all three playoff games scheduled for Wednesday, with games due to take place on Thursday also believed to now be in jeopardy. It was not immediately clear how the season will proceed following Wednesday's meeting, or whether the Lakers and Clippers -- the two . . .
Patrick McDermott/Getty Images In the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL -- like all of the major professional sports in North America -- allowed its players the option to opt out of the 2020 season in the event they had any concerns about playing under such unprecedented conditions. As one may imagine, that option was utilized by a number of players throughout the league as 67 of them elected to sit out as the NFL moved forward with the 2020 campaign. While the pandemic is waning and various stadiums are planning to host fans at full capacity next season, the league is going to give players the option to opt out if they still have concerns about playing. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network , players have until 4 p.m. ET on Friday, July 2 to inform their teams if they plan to opt out of the 2021 season. Players who are deemed high risk for COVID are entitled to a $350,000 stipend, which is what they saw a year ago. Voluntary opt-outs, however, will not receive . . .
Getty Images The NFL had 67 players opt out of the 2020 season, with their contracts tolling. With vaccines available this year, few — if any — players are expected to opt out of 2021. Still, the NFL is giving some players the right to do so again. Players have until 4 p.m. ET on July 2 to inform their team if they are opting out of the 2021 season, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports. High-risk players for COVID-19 again are entitled to a $350,000 stipend, adds Pelissero. Voluntary opt-outs get nothing. (Last year, voluntary opt-outs received a $150,000 stipend.) Only players who executed their contracts before Oct. 1, 2020, are eligible to take a voluntary opt out, so 2021 rookies aren’t eligible. All opt-out decisions are final. . . .
