LUCAS PEREZ and West Ham ended 22 months of hurt with a spectacular second half. The Hammers have now recorded back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since January 2017 as they continued a remarkable mini run of form. About the same time as West Ham were beating Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough in successive games, striker Perez last hit the target in the league for former club Arsenal = 700 days previously. Both miserable bits of history were obliterated last night when Perez scored two in a 12 minute goal blitz that finally saw off gritty Cardiff. Pretty much everyone knew what the Jazz’s modus operandi would be this year because … well, because it’s pretty much what they do every year: Smother and suffocate teams defensively, and slow the pace and grind it out offensively to score just enough. And on the flip side, they’re allowing 120.5 ppg — tied for eighth-most in the league. Joe Ingles, arguably the biggest beneficiary of the team’s offensive explosion, considering he’s averaging 24.5 points on 70.4 percent shooting from the field and 64.7 percent from 3-point range, finds this new paradigm a bit disconcerting. “Offense is not the problem — many times this year I think … [Read more...] about The Jazz are lighting it up on offense and struggling on defense. AUSTIN — For about five minutes Tuesday afternoon, Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger fended off a flurry of questions as unrelenting as any pass rush he’d encountered this season. The queries concerned his icy relationship with Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray. A few Texas officials lurked behind the pack of reporters, lips pursed, hoping Ehlinger wouldn’t slip and surrender a morsel for Oklahoma to chew on ahead of Saturday’s Big 12 championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. And there were myriad chances for him to do just that. One day earlier, Murray was asked whether he respects Ehlinger’s game. He responded with a cold “no comment.” READ ALSO: Sam Ehlinger, Kyle Murray to meet again; Texas and OU too Ehlinger hit back with a cheeky, if innocuous, response of his own. “I’d absolutely love to comment on that,” Ehlinger said. “I absolutely respect his game.” The two have come to embody the never-ending … [Read more...] about Ehlinger-Murray drama adds even more intrigue to Big 12 championship game
