Shubman Gill Hits Double Century With 3 Back-To-Back Sixes, Creates Record | Cricket News

January 18, 2023 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

Shubman Gill slammed his maiden double century off just 145 balls during the first ODI encounter between India and New Zealand in Hyderabad on Wednesday. He became the fifth Indian cricketer ever to achieve the feat and his innings was adorned with 19 boundaries and eight massive sixes. Earlier, the feat was achieved by Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. He also became the youngest cricketer to hit a double century in ODIs - a record previously held by Kishan. It was a near-perfect performance for the youngster who looked completely in control against the New Zealand bowlers. He stitched together a solid 50-run partnership with Rohit for the opening wicket and although Rohit was dismissed, Gill continued without any discomfort on the pitch with an even bounce. The right-hander continued to play his shots even when India lost two quick wickets in the form of Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan. Gill was able to reach his third ODI century and in the … [Read more...] about Shubman Gill Hits Double Century With 3 Back-To-Back Sixes, Creates Record | Cricket News

India complete dominating 59-run win over West Indies in 4th ODI; Kohli, Samuels hammer tons

October 17, 2014 by www.cricketcountry.com Leave a Comment

By Abhijit Banare Oct 17, 2014 A disinterested West Indies team went down to India by 59 runs in the fourth One-Day International (ODI) at Dharamsala. The match lacked the desired intensity from the visitors amidst concerns that the tour has been called off. The Indians though put up a solid performance led by Virat Kohli’s 127 scoring 330 . West Indies hardly showed any intention of chasing the challenging total. After hanging around for a while, Dwayne Smith departed for a 11-ball duck. Kieron Pollard walked in at No 3 only to nudge around and allow the required rate to creep up. On some other day, the team chasing would’ve gone for some calculated risks at least. While Pollard was going for a few unorthodox shots to no success, Darren Bravo was content shouldering his arms to anything outside off. By the time Pollard was caught in the slips, he had already consumed 31 deliveries. In other words a match-losing innings looking at the target. Smith and Pollard together … [Read more...] about India complete dominating 59-run win over West Indies in 4th ODI; Kohli, Samuels hammer tons

Hardik Pandya was dismissed in controversial fashion as the umpire's decision left Indian fans disappointed during the first ODI encounter between India and New Zealand in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The delivery from Mitchell Santner cramped Pandya for room and due to the extra bounce, the Indian batsman ended up missing it completely. While it seemed like the ball went over the stumps, the bails were dislodged. The situation was not clear as it was possibility that the stumps were disturbed by Tom Latham 's gloves, but the on-field umpire decided to give the decision against Pandya. pic.twitter.com/50RSxsUXFn — LePakad7 (@AreBabaRe2) January 18, 2023 Pandya was visibly unhappy with the umpire's decision, and he walked off in anger after he was given out. The replays shown were also inconclusive as the bail came off at the very moment when the ball was caught by Latham. However, certain angles did show that the ball did not touch the stumps. INDIA V NEW ZEALAND 2023 by Cricbuzz Staff • Published on Share Tweet Gill became the youngest cricketer to notch up an ODI double as his career-best 208 powered India's daunting total of 349/8 © BCCI Shubman Gill became the youngest cricketer to notch up an ODI double as his career-best 208 powered India's daunting total of 349/8 in the series opener against New Zealand in Hyderabad on Wednesday (January 18). New Zealand found ways to induce mistakes and break every meaningful fifty-plus partnership India posted but the unstoppable Gill shattered many records in his single-handed effort to give India an above-par score. Incidentally, if it wasn't for Shreyas Iyer's injury at the eleventh hour, Gill had lost his place in the XI to Ishan Kishan - not due to form but to accommodate a 'keeper in the absence of KL Rahul for this series. When a middle-order slot opened up on the eve of the match, Gill managed to hold on to the … [Read more...] about Shubman Gill special powers India to 349
