Anrich Nortje of Delhi Capitals tells how he bowls at 156 kmph! Know secret of the fastest bowler in IPL

· October 15, 2020 ·

The 26-year-old pacer clocked a breathtaking 156.2 kmph while bowling to Jos Buttler in the third over of Rajasthan Royals' run-chase against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday (October 14). He bettered compatriot Dale Steyn's (154.4 kmph) record in the process. "I heard about it afterwards. I did not know about it at the time," Anrich told his Capitals teammate Shikhar Dhawan in a video posted by IPLT20.com. Nortje added that he has been working hard on injecting pace in his deliveries. "I have been working really hard to get my pace up, been a couple of seasons. Been working on my braced leg and my front arm... simple stuff. Happy to get some pace behind it but you obviously need to get it in the right area, that's the most important thing." Bowling the fastest delivery did not have the desired result for Nortje as Buttler scooped it for a boundary. The Englishman had played the same shot in the previous delivery. However, the duel didn't last long as the South African claimed … [Read more...] about Anrich Nortje of Delhi Capitals tells how he bowls at 156 kmph! Know secret of the fastest bowler in IPL

World Test Championship 2021 Final: Australia Coach Backs England Against India Ahead of 4th Test at Motera

· March 2, 2021 ·

With the race to the World Test Championship final heating up after India knocked England out, Australia would now be cheering for traditional rivals England to beat the hosts in the fourth and final Test starting March 4 in Ahmedabad. England had to win the series by a margin of 0-4, 0-3, or 1-3 to set up a final date with New Zealand. For India, all they have to do is play out a draw. If Virat Kohli and Co can manage to do that at Motera – they would join New Zealand in the final that would be played at the iconic Lords. Ahead of the fourth Test between India and England, Australia coach Andrew McDonald told reporters in Wellington on Tuesday that due to ‘self-interest’ involved – Australia would back England. “Bit of self-interest there, isn’t it, for us following England for the first time in a long time. We’ll be hoping that they can do the job there,” he said. “It’s going to be difficult, no doubt. Some of the surfaces they’ve played on are conducive to spin bowling and … [Read more...] about World Test Championship 2021 Final: Australia Coach Backs England Against India Ahead of 4th Test at Motera

Zimbabwe seamers star as Afghanistan collapse for 131

· February 2, 2021 ·

AFGHANISTAN V ZIMBABWE IN UAE, 2021 by Cricbuzz Staff • Published on Share Tweet Muzarabani, who was the star of the day, came back to close out the innings and finish with a four-wicket haul as the teams went into the Tea break. © Getty Afghanistan put up a poor display with the bat on the opening day of the Test series against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi to eventually collapse for just 131. Opting to bat first, Afghanistan got off to the worst possible start, losing a wicket off the very first ball. They went into the lunch break at 85/5, hoping for a miraculous turnaround in the second session, something that never materialised. They were dealt a huge blow post the break when skipper Asghar Afghan edged one behind as a result of no footwork on a surface where the pacers were getting assistance. The wicket did force Afsar Zazai to open up and fetch a few boundaries but with the wicketkeeper-batsman also falling for the extra … [Read more...] about Zimbabwe seamers star as Afghanistan collapse for 131

IPL 2021: Punjab Kings co-owner Ness Wadia questions BCCI on Mohali exclusion

· March 2, 2021 ·

Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai have been shortlisted as potential venues but the BCCI is yet to take a final call on the matter. Mumbai was in the mix too but spike in COVID cases means that IPL 2021 games are unlikely to be held there. "We have written to the BCCI to find out under what criteria they have selected the venues and why they have not selected us. We were hoping to have games in Punjab," Wadia told PTI. Bengaluru, October 9: The IPL 2020 mid-season transfer window is closing in on us, opening after the seventh round of matches mid next week. Some of the teams and players will be eagerly awaiting the chance for a fresh beginning, in a manner of speaking. Here MyKhel is looking at five overseas players who could be shifting the base hoping for regular chances to play in the IPL 2020. 1. Mitchell Santner (Chennai Super Kings) The New Zealand left-arm spinner is a canny customer and handy lower-order batsman. But at Chennai Super Kings, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo have occupied the foreign players slots. Skipper MS Dhoni is not someone who chops the squad for the sake of it. At this point, all these players are doing fine, making it tough for Santner to break in. Possible destination: Kings XI Punjab The Punjab is side is struggling after five defeats in six games.
