It’s looking bleak for Van de Beek as Fernandes keeps Manchester United on trophy track
The eye-catching selection of Van de Beek ahead of Fernandes for this FA Cup clash of giants at Old Trafford was all about "rotation", according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United's manager clearly felt his team could combat a faltering Liverpool team without their star man, albeit leaving him on the bench in case of emergency. "Donny needs to be playing games as well and it's a big game for Donny to come into," Solskjaer told the BBC. Van de Beek has not started a Premier League game since he was hauled off with United trailing at half-time at West Ham in early December, and he might not be starting any soon either given how this game transpired. Dan Campbell: Duce Staley will not be a ‘token assistant head coach’
Duce Staley has a new opportunity in the coaching world with the Detroit Lions. After parting ways with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he coached in multiple roles since 2011, was named the assistant head coach and running backs coach with Detroit. Staley was passed over multiple times for the head coaching position with the Eagles and new Lions head coach Dan Campbell apparently has big plans for the former running back. Campbell was hired this offseason cycle to replace Matt Patricia . Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Campbell made a bold statement about Staley’s role compared to what he was doing previously. “I told him, ‘You’re not going to be a token assistant head coach.’ I’m going to use him,” Campbell said at his media availability on Tuesday. “We had him in during our player evaluations on the whole offense and defense — though he wasn’t able to be in there very long because he had to go back with [offensive coordinator Anthony] Lynn and work … [Read more...] about Dan Campbell: Duce Staley will not be a ‘token assistant head coach’
