Behind Shikhar Dhawan 's cheerful exterior lies an intensely "spiritual man" who has made peace with representing India in only one format. Approaching his 37th birthday, Dhawan has made a pledge to himself. "Till the time I am playing for India, I would like to be an asset and not a liability," Dhawan told PTI in an exclusive interaction after leading India to an ODI series victory in the West Indies. From the start of 2020 till the end of West Indies series, Dhawan has played 22 ODIs and scored 975 runs with 10 half-centuries, the highest by an Indian batter by a distance. August 9, 2022 by sports.ndtv.com Leave a Comment

Former Indian skipper and ex-chairman of the selection committee Krishnamachari Srikkanth said that had he been the chairman of selectors currently, pacer Mohammed Shami would have been a part of Men in Blue's squad for upcoming Asia Cup 2022, which will take place from August 27 onwards. The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Monday announced the 14-members squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. The much-anticipated Asia Cup cricket tournament will take place from August 27 this year. "In my team, Shami was literally there. If I was the Chairman of the selection committee, I think Shami would have been there and probably, I would not have gone with Ravi Bishnoi . But I still believe that Axar Patel was a serious contender in my team. It would have been a big toss-up between Axar Patel and Ashwin," said Srikkanth during the show 'Follow The Blues' on Star Sports. Srikkanth opines that the squad is good but needs one more medium pacer. The Indian cricket team and Pakistan cricket team face each other on October 23 at the 2022 T20 World Cup. The last time the two teams played against each other in a World Cup match, Pakistan defeated India. That happened in the 2021 T20 World Cup, where the Babar Azam -led Pakistan completely dominated India. The win was all the more special as it was the first time that a Pakistan team won a World Cup match against India. Before that win, Pakistan lost in 12 out of 13 games against India in 50-overs and T20 World Cups combined. Pakistan middle-order batter Sohaib Maqsood has now spoken on why Pakistan have lost consistently to India at the mega event. "The reason for the green shirts' consistent defeat against India in World Cup matches is because the Pakistani team became overexcited," the 35-year-old Sohaib Maqsood was quoted as saying by Cricketpakistan.com . "However, in the recent past, our team has started treating Indo-Pak matches normally and it has improved our … [Read more...] about “Became Over Excited”: Pakistan Batter On Team’s Consistent Defeats To India At World Cups | Cricket News

With cricket being played round the year, India captain Rohit Sharma feels having a solid bench strength is paramount, and the team is striving to build one with an eye on the future. Since their shock group-stage elimination in the last T20 World Cup, India have been experimenting with their squads, with injury and workload management also playing a part in it. "We play lot of cricket, so there will be injuries and workload management, so we have to rotate players," Rohit said on Star Sports show 'Follow the Blues'. "We want to create our bench strength, we want to make sure that India's future is in safe hands. That's the planning that we are trying to have." Rohit is now gearing up to lead India in the upcoming edition of the T20 showpiece in Australia, but before that, they have the Asia Cup to deal … [Read more...] about “Want To Create Our Bench Strength”: Rohit Sharma On India’s Squad Rotation | Cricket News
