The All-India Senior Selection Committee picked India's squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 to be played from August 27 to September 11. Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, and Avesh Khan get the nod for Asia Cup, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Axar Patel have been named as standbys. Virat Kohli in Asia Cup 2022 Squad: India's new gung-ho approach can help 'King Kohli' return to his best While speaking about the competition between Arshdeep and Avesh for a place in the T20 World Cup squad and Playing XI, Manjrekar said exclusively on SPORTS18's daily sports news show 'SPORTS OVER THE TOP', "There is actually a nice race going on for that flight to Australia to get that seat in business class. You know these guys travel business class. We used to be in economy, so I say that very sort of grudgingly. So, a race going on to clamour to get those seats on business class to Australia. And that's where I think you would have to say Arshdeep Singh has overtaken Avesh Khan. … [Read more...] about Asia Cup 2022: Arshdeep Singh has a slight edge over Avesh Khan, reckons Sanjay Manjrekar

22 compelling storylines, teams, coaches, players that will dominate the 2022 college football season

CBS Sports graphic Football -- actual on-the-field, snot-bubblin' football -- can't get here fast enough. Over the last three years, those of us on the front lines have been asked to become amateur epidemiologists (COVID-19, 2020), ambulance chasers (Texas-Oklahoma ditching the Big 12 for the SEC, 2021) and cartologists (mapping USC-UCLA travel routes to the East Coast, 2022). Someone make it reign … football again. Thank (Eli) Gold, we're only a month away; season No. 153 of college football is almost here. From this vantage point, the sport itself looks like a shining city on the hill because, frankly, we're just about tapped out on transfers; name, image and likeness; monster coaching contracts; and conference realignment. Unfortunately, they're as much a part of the game these days as Mike Leach's sense of, ahem, fashion. Somebody, somewhere, snap the ball and instead of snapping your fingers to get to a new conference. We'll be watching as Nick Saban most … [Read more...] about 22 compelling storylines, teams, coaches, players that will dominate the 2022 college football season

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin: New contract ‘meant everything to me’ ahead of training camp

August 4, 2022 by 247sports.com Leave a Comment

Terry McLaurin’s big pay day did not come easy. A third-round Washington draft pick in 2019 out of Ohio State, McLaurin quickly asserted himself as one of the NFC East’s top receivers. And now three years later, he has the pay day to back it up. McLaurin signed a three-year, $71 million extension this month with the Washington Commanders. Now at training camp in Ashburn, Va., his sights are set on a third-straight 1,000-yard season and the start of a connection with quarterback Carson Wentz . “It meant everything to me to finally have that contract signed and be back with the team that drafted me, believed in me on draft night a few years ago, to come back and build on what I’ve done the last three years but also to take the next step in my career and just be all that I can be for this team and this offense, and take my leadership to the next level,” McLaurin said on ESPN’s NFL Live. “I’m really confident that I can continue to just build on what I did but also improve … [Read more...] about Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin: New contract ‘meant everything to me’ ahead of training camp

Coaches Poll top 25 reactions: Notre Dame, Texas A&M overrated in first rankings ahead of 2022 season

August 8, 2022 by www.cbssports.com Leave a Comment

Getty Images The 2022 Coaches Poll was released on Monday , and there weren't too many surprises at the top. Alabama earned the top spot, followed by Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson. Notre Dame chimed in at No. 5, with Michigan, Texas A&M, Utah, Oklahoma and Baylor rounding out the top 10. Where these teams end up in December is anyone's guess, but for right now it's still talkin' season, which means that it's time to yell at one another at the top of our lungs about the rankings that were just released. Which team is overrated? Which team is underrated? Here are my thoughts on where the panel of Division I head coaches missed the mark in the first edition of the Coaches Poll. Overrated: No. 5 Notre Dame Look, I love Marcus Freeman. The first-year coach of the Fighting Irish has injected new energy into the program and it's paying off -- particularly on the recruiting trail. This year, however, a preseason top-five ranking is a little absurd. The absence of running … [Read more...] about Coaches Poll top 25 reactions: Notre Dame, Texas A&M overrated in first rankings ahead of 2022 season

Washington Commanders rookie Jahan Dotson details lessons learned from WR Terry McLaurin

August 3, 2022 by 247sports.com Leave a Comment

One of the Washington Commanders’ biggest goals this offseason was finding help for star wide receiver Terry McLaurin . Trading for quarterback Carson Wentz was a big move — but so was drafting Penn State star wide receiver Jahan Dotson in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. “He’s a professional every single day,” Dotson said when asked by reporters what he’s learned from watching McLaurin. “He comes out here every morning, he recovers, he comes out ready to practice every single day. He goes hard every single rep. That’s what you want in a teammate. You know he’s going to leave it all on the line for you so you want to do it for him. It’s great playing alongside someone like him just because I know what he’s going to bring every single day and that’s being a professional and playing his heart out. So I want to do the same. “I wouldn’t say I’ve changed much because I kind of see myself as being very professional. I take my craft very seriously. I don’t take it … [Read more...] about Washington Commanders rookie Jahan Dotson details lessons learned from WR Terry McLaurin

Washington Commanders’ Terry McLaurin calls rookie Penn State product Jahan Dotson a ‘natural’ at WR

July 30, 2022 by 247sports.com Leave a Comment

It did not take long for one Big Ten star to catch the eye of Terry McLaurin at Washington Commanders training camp. Rivals at the college level between Ohio State and Penn State, McLaurin and first-round pick Jahan Dotson now share a huddle in Washington. Dotson enters the pros with 2,775 yards from scrimmage for the Nittany Lions and 26 touchdowns. That includes 21 touches, 279 yards and three touchdowns against the Buckeyes. "I didn't know that was him at first, in college, but he caught like a one-hander against Ohio State and you kind of see his ball skills out here," McLaurin said . "I got to see him again in California, and he's just very natural when he catches the ball. He's quiet, but that's a lot of rookies, but he has a very business-like approach. You can tell he treats this as his job and a professional, and he has fun when he makes a play. You try to encourage him to smile because it's hard to make plays in this league. And when you make explosive … [Read more...] about Washington Commanders’ Terry McLaurin calls rookie Penn State product Jahan Dotson a ‘natural’ at WR

Ben Stokes leaves behind ODI legacy after South Africa swansong

July 20, 2022 by www.mykhel.com Leave a Comment

Those were the words from commentator Ian Smith that stick long in the memory from the dramatic 2019 World Cup final, England winning the 50-over competition after a culmination of four years of planning. But Smith's dramatic exclamation, the spectacle, and the complete chaos at Lord's would not have been possible without Christchurch-born Ben Stokes. England were reeling at 86-4 chasing 242 in tricky conditions against an unrelenting New Zealand attack, before Stokes – aided by a fortuitous dive – struck an unbeaten 84 to take the final to a Super Over. Not satisfied with his fifth half-century of the tournament, and arguably the greatest white-ball innings of all time, Stokes added eight runs in the subsequent Super Over as England were crowned world champions on the bizarre boundary countback ruling. The all-rounder's crowning moment in white-ball cricket came just three years after conceding four consecutive sixes in the last over of the T20 World Cup final as Carlos … [Read more...] about Ben Stokes leaves behind ODI legacy after South Africa swansong
