August 9, 2022 by www.cbssports.com Leave a Comment

South Carolina Athletics The distance between Columbia, S.C. and Dallas, the site for the 2023 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, is 995.6 miles. The South Carolina Gamecocks are already getting a head start with four bicycles and weekly missions. Every Friday before the season begins, sports performance coach Molly Binetti holds one-hour workouts she calls "Final Four Fridays." Each week is different, but every session has a mission requiring the players to work as a team and visualize challenges they will face throughout the upcoming season. One of the challenges is biking the number of miles it will take to travel from Columbia to whichever city the Final Four will be held next. Binetti sets up four bicycles, and the players take turns to register the specific amount of miles needed. Sometimes the miles relate to the number of games they'll play in a season. Other times, the challenge is based on the opponents, which means the difficulty is based on teams they will be … [Read more...] about An inside look at South Carolina’s ‘Final Four Fridays’: How a workout program has transformed the team

A taste of varsity football as an eighth grader for Sunshine State powerhouse Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy, put a hunger in the belly of quarterback Colin Hurley that he tries to quench with hard work. But with each workout, practice, with each new scholarship offer, especially after guiding his team to another state championship as a freshman last fall, it pushes the talented 2025 signal-caller to go harder. “I can’t wait to see where this takes me,” Hurley said. Looks like its going to take him pretty far. One of the first national recruits in this rising sophomore class, we know that the 6-foot-1, 213-pound Hurley is destined for the biggest stage in college football. From there time will tell, but the blue-chip passer has impressed college coaches, his teammates and certainly his head coach Verlon Dorminey to date. “He’s way older than his years,” Dorminey said. “He is a 21-year old body (type) and mind in a 15-year old body. He has a great arm, leads … [Read more...] about 2025 QB Colin Hurley heads into the fall already a national recruit

The Indian cricket team and Pakistan cricket team face each other on October 23 at the 2022 T20 World Cup. The last time the two teams played against each other in a World Cup match, Pakistan defeated India. That happened in the 2021 T20 World Cup, where the Babar Azam -led Pakistan completely dominated India. The win was all the more special as it was the first time that a Pakistan team won a World Cup match against India. Before that win, Pakistan lost in 12 out of 13 games against India in 50-overs and T20 World Cups combined. Pakistan middle-order batter Sohaib Maqsood has now spoken on why Pakistan have lost consistently to India at the mega event. "The reason for the green shirts' consistent defeat against India in World Cup matches is because the Pakistani team became overexcited," the 35-year-old Sohaib Maqsood was quoted as saying by Cricketpakistan.com . "However, in the recent past, our team has started treating Indo-Pak matches normally and it has improved our … [Read more...] about “Became Over Excited”: Pakistan Batter On Team’s Consistent Defeats To India At World Cups | Cricket News

It’s not just a medal for us, it’s an inspiration: Savita reflects on historic Commonwealth Games campaign

This incredible feat was the pinnacle of what was a roller coaster ride for the Savita-led Indian team who showed resilience to bounce back from a heartbreaking ninth place finish at the FIH Women's World Cup which took place in the Netherlands and Spain in July. The Indian team also took part in their last set of FIH Hockey Pro League matches in June in Belgium and Netherlands, where they finished third. Reflecting on the long tour, Indian Women's Hockey Team Captain Savita said, "It was a pretty long tour, there were ups and downs but it taught us a lot of things. We started the tour on a strong note by finishing third in our debut FIH Hockey Pro League 2021/22 campaign and then went through a rough patch during the World Cup. “Finishing ninth was disappointing, but it was equally important to move ahead and take positive learnings from the campaign to focus on the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. "We then had a short preparatory camp in Nottingham, where we … [Read more...] about It’s not just a medal for us, it’s an inspiration: Savita reflects on historic Commonwealth Games campaign

Commonwealth Games 2022: Highs and lows of India

August 9, 2022 by www.mykhel.com Leave a Comment

Going into Birmingham 2022, slipping out of the usual top-five was seen as a real possibility in absence of shooting, but phenomenal success in athletics and lawn bowls propelled India to a commendable fourth-place finish. About 25 per cent of India's 66 medals came from the shooting range in the previous edition held at Gold Coast, Australia, and not many believed that India will be able to touch even 50. But the country ended up with 61, courtesy unprecedented success in track and field events that delivered eight medals. As the Games concluded, with PTI inputs, myKhel.com looks at some of the highs and lows for India at Birmingham 2022. Athletics Eldhose Paul and Abdullah Aboobacker's rare 1-2 finish in triple jump will be cherished for long. Avinash Sable's silver in the 3,000M steeplechase and Tejaswin Shankar's bronze in the high jump were also a first for India while Murali Sreeshankar's silver in the long jump was the country's first since 1978. … [Read more...] about Commonwealth Games 2022: Highs and lows of India
