It was not the familiar Pollard blitz of the death overs. The sluggish nature of the Chepauk pitch forced him to curb his big-hitting tendencies and there was a slice of fortune for him too. Vijay Shankar dropped Pollard off Khaleel Ahmed when the Trinidadian was on 18, and Pollard made Hyderabad pay for that error. After 19.4 overs, Mumbai score read 138 for 5 but Pollard hammered Bhuvneshwar Kumar for two sixes off the fifth and sixth ball of the 20th over to take his team to 150. Pollard remained not out on 35 off 22 balls. In the end calculations that knock made a huge difference. Pollard also bowled two parsimonious overs for just 10 overs that eased pressure on Mumbai's main bowlers in the middle overs, also helping MI to compensate for the expensiveness of Adam Milne and Krunal Pandya. But Pollard said his job is to support the frontline bowlers. "When it's coming out nicely you want to bowl another over, but what the team needs at the moment is you... but we need the main … [Read more...] about IPL 2021: MI vs SRH: Kieron Pollard: It’s good we won after a scrap, our confidence is up

Austin Dillon troubled no more at Richmond
Once upon a time, Richmond Raceway felt like a puzzle Austin Dillon would never solve. His first nine Cup starts at the 3/4-mile short track yielded no finishes better than 13th. “I sucked there at the beginning of my career,” Dillon said this week in a media teleconference. “I dreaded going there. I said I wished Richmond would just not be a track anymore.” But while he’s still seeking his first win at Richmond, the puzzle pieces are starting to fit. In last September’s Cup Series playoff race at Richmond , Dillon recovered from a pit road speeding penalty and missing pit entrance prior to another stop to finish fourth. The outing was critical in Dillon advancing into the Round of 12. It was also Dillon’s third finish of sixth or better in his last four Richmond races. And as he returns there Sunday (3 p.m. ET on Fox), his past worries are gone. “We really looked at everything we did last year and didn’t change a whole lot,” he said. “But we went back over some things in … [Read more...] about Austin Dillon troubled no more at Richmond
IPL 2021: RCB vs KKR: Kyle Jamieson picks the brains of AB, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell
Jamieson was picked up by RCB in the players' auction for a whopping ₹15 crore and the tall pacer is expected to take wickets and then finish off games with his big-hitting. In the first two games of this season, Jamieson has two wickets and he has scored 16 runs. "Yeah, probably it does not add any extra pressure on me, if anything it takes it away because those guys (Virat, ABD, and Maxwell) are so good. Yes, you know that they have done roles all around the world for a number of years. It is about tapping into that knowledge and trying to take their learnings and apply it. Once I said earlier, the pressure is even less because of those guys and how good they are, it probably allows me to play my role," said Jamieson during a virtual press conference. Talking about his experience in India so far, Jamieson said: "This is my first time in India, certainly loving it so far. Got through the quarantine and then got some training done in the training camp. Underway with the games now, … [Read more...] about IPL 2021: RCB vs KKR: Kyle Jamieson picks the brains of AB, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell
Dan Orlovsky on Alabama: ‘NFL organizations absolutely love that’
Alabama is basically an NFL factory. This season, they’re expected to have three prospects go early, potentially all in the Top 10 of the NFL Draft. Mac Jones , DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle are the top three but there’s also Patrick Surtain and Christian Barmore, giving Alabama potentially five high first round picks. ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovksy believes NFL teams are all over Alabama and basically love them more than any other program. Orlovksy pointed to head coach Nick Saban’s “process over results.” “It's a program that's process over results,” Orlovsky said. “You are what you repeatedly do. NFL programs believe Nick Saban has ingrained that into his players. So they are already ready to become pros. They already understand what it's like to be a pro because they've been one for at least three or four years, so to speak. They've been pros on campus. I think NFL programs look at that talent and go, 'great, that's there.' But the character makeup, the … [Read more...] about Dan Orlovsky on Alabama: ‘NFL organizations absolutely love that’
Four-star center Dylan Anderson commits to Arizona
Tommy Lloyd has secured his first pledge as head coach at Arizona. This morning, four-star big man Dylan Anderson has announced that he will stay close to home and commit to Lloyd and the Wildcats. The 7-foot product of Gilbert (Ariz.) chose Arizona over the likes of Gonzaga , Kansas , Michigan , and North Carolina . The Arizona men's basketball program has been recruiting Anderson for some time as they extended the big man an offer while he was in the eighth grade. " It was a pretty great accomplishment getting that offer because I was in the 8th grade and was offered by a big-time D-I school," Anderson said in a previous interview with Jason Scheer. "The big message they portrayed since then is that they know what type of player I can be to any program and they want to try their best to keep an Arizona player at Arizona.” It does not come as a surprise that Anderson is Lloyd's first commit as head coach of the Wildcats. Anderson's father expressed to … [Read more...] about Four-star center Dylan Anderson commits to Arizona
