Ohio State football: Buckeyes defense ‘should be better’ this season, Joel Klatt says
The Ohio State Buckeyes had an explosive offense last season, but defensive woes were an Achilles heel. And in order to return to the College Football Playoff after missing out a year ago, the Buckeyes must rectify that weakness. College football analyst Joel Klatt shared his thoughts on where Ohio State stands on the defensive side of the ball, saying that there should be improvement. “I think defensively they have — it’s taken them some time to try to find their identity and I think they’re still on that path," Klatt said as a guest on The Herd . "Remember now, they’ve got a new defensive coordinator, Jim Knowles, he comes from Oklahoma State and now he’s going to be Ryan Day’s new defensive coordinator at Ohio State. His first year, I thought he made one of the best hires in all of college football before he had ever coached a game. What he did with Jeff Hafley and that defense — granted, they had great players — but they were physical, they were stout, they were really good … [Read more...] about Ohio State football: Buckeyes defense ‘should be better’ this season, Joel Klatt says

The Seattle Seahawks used the No. 41 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft to select running back Kenneth Walker III out of Michigan State. Walker figures to see immediate playing time alongside Rashaad Penny after the sudden retirement of Chris Carson this offseason. However, Walker missed practice Tuesday, which Seahawks coach Pete Carroll addressed. “Ken’s got a little hernia thing that he’s working on and we’ve got to get through that,” Carroll said, via ESPN’s Brady Henderson . “So I don’t know what to tell you yet, but it’s something that we can attend to and all that. “We’ve just got to make sure that he’s OK by the opener is what we’re shooting for.” Walker blossomed into a star in 2021 for the Spartans and, at times, looked like a potential Heisman Trophy winner. He didn’t capture the award despite compiling 1,636 yards on 263 carries with 18 touchdowns. Before starring for Michigan State, Walker played at Wake Forest. He’s not gonna go take Isaiah Likely down in a competitive ball drill here in 1 on 1’s – we appreciate that ... but Kyle’s been right there, he’s doing a good job, he’s playing well. Thought he had a good game. Some things to clean up like all the guys but he had a really good game.” Preseason aside, Hamilton gushed about playing in his first game amongst the NFL ranks.
