Kristaps Porzingis demanded a trade, and the Knicks obliged by sending him to Dallas. At least that’s what New York’s GM Steve Mills said during his on-air interview with MSG’s Rebecca Haarlow during Sunday’s game against Memphis, just days after the deal with the Mavericks. But Porzingis posted on Instagram that there’s more to it than that, that the truth will eventually come to the light. What we know for sure is there was a rift between star player and his front office. Who’s right and who’s wrong? Let’s figure out what exactly was said first. The Knicks side The Kristaps Porzingis trade seemed abrupt. Mills and Knicks president Scott Perry met with Porzingis and his brother/manager Janis on the morning of Jan. 31. It leaked from New York that Porzingis was not interested in signing a contract extension in New York. He preferred to be traded, and if the Knicks didn’t do so, he would have signed the one-year qualifying offer … [Read more...] about Kristaps Porzingis and the Knicks can’t agree on why he was traded to Dallas

Detroit Lions-loving reverend can’t stand the idea of tanking
Shawn Windsor Detroit Free Press Published 6:00 AM EST Dec 16, 2018 His email nearly crashed my inbox when it arrived. It was hot. And he was angry. But more than angry, he was dumbfounded: “As a Detroit Lions’ fan I feel that your column fall(s) outside the boundary of what sports are all about,” he wrote. “I find it insulting to suggest to the players AND fans that the team should lose games to improve their position in the upcoming draft.” The reader gave me permission to print his thoughts, but I’m going to protect his name. Saban says Bama can’t just ‘s**t another player’ whenever
Alabama coach Nick Saban had a press conference on Saturday. At it, someone asked him if he was concerned about a lack of progress in fall camp by the Tide’s backups. Saban’s response, in part: “I’ve been concerned about this all along, so I don’t even know why you would ask the question. You just think, whatever happens, we just shit another player, all right, and everything is gonna be perfect. All our fans think that. You [the media] think that. That’s what you write about. That’s the message you send out there. Yeah, I worry about it all the time. I may be the only one, but I do worry about it. So I’m very worried about it.” Alabama has multiple four- and five-star recruits at every spot on the depth chart where recruits get star ratings. When the Tide suffer a rash of injuries — as happened before 2017’s national title game — the Tide have to dig deep into their back of blue-chips. Every player in … [Read more...] about Saban says Bama can’t just ‘s**t another player’ whenever
