Getty Images Assault charges officially have been filed against Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald . Via Melina Roeder of KDKA, DeVincent Spriggs made his criminal complaint earlier today . He contends that Donald, a three-time NFL defensive player of the year, began punching Spriggs after he accidentally bumped into Donald early Sunday morning. Spriggs contends that he suffered a concussion and a broken arm. He also says that he has 16 stitches near his eye. The Rams have said they are collecting information about the situation. The NFL, which has jurisdiction over offseason misconduct allegations under the Personal Conduct Policy, also will surely investigate. During Alabama’s spring game on Saturday, head coach Nick Saban narrowly avoided a collision with one of his players during an interception return. In his postgame presser, Saban said that he chose his attire specifically to avoid that type of accident. When asked about the near miss in the middle of the field , Saban jokingly replied that he may as well be the goalpost. Players would do well to avoid colliding with him. The Alabama football head coach also noted that he wore a bright red suit jacket to make sure his players could see him when he was on the field during the action. “The players know that if they run into me it is very similar to running into the goal post, so it is not a good choice and decision for them so they usually avoid me,” Saban said. “I wear a jacket like this, so they can really see where I am for their safety, not really for mine.
