Country star John Rich defended the Second Amendment while calling out fellow music stars Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard over their gun control push. On December 4, 2018, Breitbart News reported that Bentley and Hubbard had joined a gun control push launched by Tom’s apparel company. The campaign includes calls for universal background checks, even though we have had background checks since 1998 and nearly every mass public attacker acquires his guns via a background. The exceptions are those who steal their guns.Hubbard also indicated that he is trying to recruit other country artists to join the gun control campaign. The social media backlash against Hubbard was profound and he responded by posting an Instagram video in which he doubled down for gun control. He called for an end to private gun sales at gun shows and flea markets but didn’t list one 21st century mass public attack in which a firearm from a gun show or flea market was used. … [Read more...] about Country Star John Rich Defends Second Amendment: Calls Out Dierks Bentley, Tyler Hubbard over Their Gun Control Push

Country music superstars Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard are demanding Congress pass more gun control now. Rolling Stone reports that the crooners are making these demands in conjunction with a gun control push spearheaded by Tom’s apparel company.Bentley and Hubbard are both pushing for universal background checks, although laws requiring background checks already exist, and have since 1998. The difference between universal checks and the type the U.S. has is that universal checks are a way to criminalize private gun sales, thereby making criminals out of a neighbor who sells a gun to another neighbor or a father who sells a gun to his son. Moreover, the universal background check push spearheaded by Tom’s, and supported by Bentley and Hubbard, suggests checks are needed to close the “gun show loophole.” But they do not list a single high-profile shooting from this century that would have been stopped by universal background … [Read more...] about Country Stars Dierks Bentley, Georgia Florida Line’s Tyler Hubbard Join Toms Gun Control Campaign
President Donald Trump questioned Nike’s decision to feature failed former quarterback Colin Kaepernick in a commercial. “What was Nike thinking?” Trump wrote on Twitter Friday:Trump expanded his criticism of the athletic company in an interview with Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth. “I don’t like what Nike did. I don’t think it was appropriate what they did,” he said. “I honor the flag. I honor our national anthem, and most of the people in our country feel the same way.” Nike’s favorability numbers fell 34 percent after its ad was announced for the opening broadcast of the NFL regular season. Trump said he did not understand why the NFL was not enforcing its rule that athletes must stand for the national anthem, and he criticized the proposed compromise to allow NFL athletes to stay in the locker room during the anthem. “I think that’s worse than kneeling, in a certain way. … That shows that you just … [Read more...] about Donald Trump on Colin Kaepernick Ad: ‘What Was Nike Thinking?’
Getty Images The Nike ad featuring Colin Kaepernick aired during Thursday night’s game between the Falcons and Eagles and it again drew a response from President Trump. The President took to Twitter on Friday morning to ask “what was Nike thinking?” The company’s decision to unveil an ad featuring Kaepernick has been a frequent target for Trump this week. He also slammed the company during a rally in Montana on Thursday night and squeezed in some time to hammer the NFL. He said in an interview with FOX News that he will win a “culture war” with the league over the national anthem while saying that it is his “understanding” that players are contractually required to stand for the national anthem. That’s not the case. The league had installed a policy requiring players on the field to stand or stay in the locker room with provisions to fine teams if players did not abide. That policy was put on hold pending further discussion … [Read more...] about President Trump: What was Nike thinking?
BUENA VISTA • Just outside city limits, on a tree-lined field of grass bordering Cottonwood Creek and yielding stunning views of the Collegiate Peaks, country music star Dierks Bentley gazed upward.“Those trees turn more yellow as the day goes on,” he said, nodding toward a patch of aspens more golden than the rest on one peak.Dressed in black board shorts, a black T-shirt from local gear shop the Trailhead, sandals and a black Seven Peaks ball cap, Bentley looked much like a member of the busy crew feverishly setting up the Seven Peaks Music Festival site Thursday afternoon. He spoke softly next to the three-story stage being assembled. His partner in developing the country music festival, Brian O’Connell, spoke louder.“Welcome to what we hope to be a long-standing tradition,” said O’Connell, concert promoter Live Nation’s president of country touring.“It’s kind of an emotional time for everybody on staff here. My buddy … [Read more...] about Country star Dierks Bentley launches Seven Peaks Music Festival in Buena Vista
